Remembering Amazon

"? DEC 2005  -  14 NOV 2024

The junkie came to my door at 3am in the morning beating on my door with no forewarning. When I answered the door and asked "What for?" he whipped out a ball of fur from under his shirt like a back alley magician with a predisposition. As I began to decline he started to weep and I said "Don't be a creep, I'll be kind and take the feline.

The most athletic and acrobatic, the things he could do with a beer bottle cap. That aristocrat sauntered around like a cheetah that taught Jim Morrison how to walk. Feline beast, jungle cat, Schwarzekitty full of bulk. If you ever talked that warlock made sure you'd be stitches when you were caught.

His trilling growl and soft meow and that savage hiss. His angelic voice was pure bliss. The Howl of the Prowl.

Then came the day his body began to break down and all I wanted to do was frown, but hey, "Forget it, Jake; it's Chinatown.

In his final days growing frail and thin. He still kept his grin. He ate like a shark. We watched Longlegs in the dark. As we danced I thought of all the things we did. Now I wish I had bought for you some squid.

When the day and time came, as I put on one of your ties I tried to realize that even though soon would be your demise that you'd watch me from the skies. In those final moments as you got very high and I gazed upon your eyes, you stared into mine and said you loved me. Then you went to paradise.

You were my friend for nearly half my life and knowing your gone feels like a knife, but your pain is over now and that makes me happy. You really were the very best laddie.

My Cat Amazon."
